Soldanella 'Spring Symphony'

Soldanella 'Spring Symphony'

Snowbell. Member of the Primula family. A delightful little alpine plant. Included in this section as it is happiest in a little shade from the midday sun. Likes a moist but well drained humus rich soil soil . Small rounded evergreen leaves that become dark and shiny as they mature. Multiple fringed bluish/purple flowers arise individually on stems directly from the rootstock, 15cm in height. Effective in either a shaded rock garden or in pots, providing they are not allowed to dry out. Name derives from the appearance of the flowers as they puch their way through the snow in the European alps.

This vigorous selection arises from a cross between S. carpatica and S. pusilla .
